Harvest Collective broke ground in the Spring of 2009 and spent the season growing food together and developing backyards into farms around the Seattle area. We are organized as a cooperative that is owned and operated by its producers. The producers are primarily Seattle’s urban farmers.
By exchanging directly from one neighbor to the other, it keeps food fresh, dollars within our own neighborhoods, and brings food directly from urban farms to kitchens, only miles from where it was produced.
We have two main areas of focus for 2010-early 2011:
Monthly Networking Potlucks
On the 2nd Sunday of the month we gather in a members home to socialize, share food, develop partnerships and generally get to know other urban farmers! We’d love to learn more about what you are doing, so please contact us at info@harvestcollective.coop if you’d like to attend and get the current location of our next potluck.
Practice Circle
In an effort to improve our own skills and commercial/operational viability as individual farmers, we are exploring topics of collaboration and sharing experiences among Seattle’s urban farmers. Our next meeting is on Dec 1 at 6pm at the White Center Library (11220 16th S.W., Seattle, 98146). Please let us know by filling out this form: RSVP
